Here are 15 reasons why 7 out of 10 people have a body mass index greater than 25. 25 categorizes as overweight.
By far the common denominator is that the public has been lied to for decades and that’s the truth!
The large MAJORITY of NUTRITION AND FITNESS information presented to the public over the last 50 years was SIMPLY NOT TRUE, and was designed to sell more product!
The public has been lied to by the following :
No 1. The Media. Food companies place some of the largest TV and print advertisements.
No 2. The Government. These agencies often are corrupted financially by food lobbyists to deliberately mislead the public to increase the sales of their product.
A specific example is the U.S. CONGRESS ruling to classify PIZZA AS A VEGETABLE in 2011. Politicians were lobbied heavily by the frozen food industry when the government threatened that pizza would be removed from school menus in an attempt to reduce child obesity.
Pizza was reclassified as vegetable based on the fact that approximately two tablespoons of tomato paste was included, that’s right, two table spoons of tomato paste.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture reversed their decision and pizza was classified as a vegetable in order to be kept in school cafeterias in the U.S.
A move that produced millions of dollars for the agri-culture industry.No 3. The food manufactures. MOST of the population receives their NUTRITION INFORMATION from the manufacturing companies making that food. Which is not helpful, as well as unethical.

No 4. Nutrition textbooks. While I was a nutrition graduate student, the textbooks to teach the students were heavily influenced by food companies using ghostwriters.
In other words, students were LIED to and MISLED from the beginning.
Two books that expose corporate corruption in the food industry are Marion Nestle’s ‘Unsavory Truth’ and ‘Food Politics’
No 5. The USDA Pyramid Lie.
The pyramid was created by the USDA to teach the public how to prioritize food choices.
Even the United States Department of Agriculture food pyramid, promotes a big fat lie, driving profits to the food industry. Children are taught this from first grade on.
Bread, cereal, rice and pasta was the recommended group to take the bulk of your food from, then vegetables and fruit, then dairy and protein, and lastly fats and oils…. Bad advice.
Walter Willet, M.D., Ph. D. the head of nutrition at Harvard’s school of public health is one of the most vocal critics of the United States Department of Agriculture food pyramid. He has called the pyramid guideline “ridiculous.” That is not something that a Harvard scientist says lightly. Some of the explains the reflected industry finantial interest, not science Sit tight… I am not done. There are still a few other reasons why so many people are overweight.
No 6. Bad science.
No 7. Untruthful research.
No 8. Untruthful labeling.
And the following reasons are based around our bad habits :
No 9. The habit of eating foods that are much higher in sugar than you ever imagined, such as all wheat products, bread, potatoes, corn, rice and grains.
Sorry to come between you and your love affair with these foods, but these foods are all sugar in DISGUISE and will QUICKLY put you in a CALORIE SURPLUS and will keep you from lowering your body fat.
And, because of genetic modifications from the food industry, these foods are MORE FATTENING THAN they were a few decades ago.
Their altered states cannot be read by our bodies, resulting in greater fat storage.
But Note: Once you reach your desired body fat you can occasionally add these foods back into your diet.
However, you will find it difficult if not impossible to reach your desired body fat if you continue to include these foods in your meal plan.
IT WAS EASIER TO LOSE WEIGHT BEFORE THE 1980 ́S (IT’S TRUE!)
A new study published in Obesity Research and Clinical Practice finds that people eating and exercising the same amount as people 40 years ago in the 1980’s are fatter today.
This study found that it is harder for adults today to maintain the same weight as individuals 30 to 40 years ago doing the same level of eating the same foods and exercise.
The study monitored the data of 36,400 Americans from 1971 to 2008. They group the data by food, age, activity, and Guess what I’m still not done with our list of why the world is getting fat each year :
No 10. Eating PROCESSED FOODS. aka Fake Foods!
Foods and oils created in lab-oratrees are not recognized as food or fuel to the human body.
Therefore, these “fake foods” are not METABOLIZED CORRECTLY and thus stored as fat.
Processed foods slow your metabolism. So, adopt the mantra “IF MAN MAKES IT, DON ́T EAT IT”.
No 11. The increased consumption of man-made oils; that’s soybean, corn, canola, safflower, Pam and margarine.
No 12. The habit of eating too late during the day is a big reason for being overweight.
Your body releases more insulin hormone later during the day. Insulin’s role is to grab blood sugar and store it in fat cells.
Your natural insulin levels are higher as your day goes on. Then, later in the day, if you eat anything breaking down to sugar (bread, rice, corn, potatoes, tropical fruits), it is quickly transported by the insulin and stored in a fat cell.
This is biology and fizzy-ology. In other words, carbohydrates have a greater potential to be fattening later in the day.
No 13. The body is always preparing for starvation times. We were genetically and still are wired, to store fat to avoid extinction. These genes have not changed for 200,000 years.
Again, this is biology. COMBINE our GENETIC PROGRAM designed to NOT burn abundant calories, with the tremendous availability and ease of access TO FOOD, most of which is processed and chemically altered, and you have the ingredients for the “PERFECT STORM” of weight gain.
N0 14. People often become fat and stay fat by skipping meals.
Well Skipping meals can allow blood sugar to fall to levels so low it will lead to binge or gorge eating.
But Note: Skipping meals is not the same as intermittent fasting and should not be compared as such. Intermittent fasting is good. Skipping meals or eating too little is bad.
No 15. I save the best for last, high fructose corn syrup.
In the mid-1980’s high fructose corn syrup was added to the food supply as a preservative and sweetener.
HFCS when consumed, makes it nearly impossible to burn fat for energy. HLCS is responsible for both Bay City and diabetic epidemics.
From 1900 to 1984 obesity in north America was approximately 23% of the population.
HFCS was approved as a sweetener and preservative in 1984 because it is 20 to 70% cheaper than sugar. Resulting in sky-rocketing obesity.
Within five years the obesity rate doubled. Today more than 70% of the population is overweight or has a body mass index greater than 30% the definition of obesity.
In 1993, NAFTA, the North America Free Trade Agreement was signed between the US, Canada and Mexico, and Mexico became the dumping ground of cheap highly processed foods.
The health effects were catastrophic, resulting in Mexico surpassing the US in obesity.
From 1996 to 2012 HFCS shipment to Mexico increased 1200%.
In 1998 before NAFTA, 34.5% of Mexico was overweight or obese, in 2018 it was 75.2%.
The leading cause of death in Mexico is diabetes.
Mexico is the largest consumer of Coca-Cola in the world and yet is it is the 10th largest country in population.
The children don’t have drinking water in schools, instead they drink soft drinks.
Babies often have Coca-Cola in their bottles instead of a baby formula.
The new NAFTA deal, called the USMCA (United States, Mexico and Canada), and the Trump Administration, made difficult for Mexican companies to put warning labels on junk food. The new trade deal will drown Mexico in junk food. [ref 8]
